About Us

Description

The Knee Joint Sports Physiotherapy was created in 2008 to create a sports physiotherapy centre on the Sunshine Coast that provided a very high level of diagnostic skills and the latest evidence based treatment techniques that catered to the whole sporting community.

Principal partners Greg Craig and Kurt Lisle have combined their wealth of knowledge to provide an acute care clinic that is your first point of call when an injury occurs. As experts in the Sporting field, the team will examine, diagnose and identify the cause of your sports injury, then devise an individual physiotherapy treatment plan which usually includes manual physiotherapy, therapeutic exercise and the application of Sports specific training and rehabilitation.

As experienced clinicians all of our team are used to dealing with people who are in pain and frustrated as a result of their injuries and understand your frustration. The team have practical counselling skills, together with patience and tact, that will provide an holistic approach to your problem.

As a clinic that prides ourselves on delivering an exceptional level of physiotherapy service, the Knee Joint has many professional networks in which it operates to ensure that you and your injury are provided with the best care, no matter what profession.

How we came to be …

Centre founder Greg Craig, together with highly regarded Physiotherapist Ian Collier, founded the first private multidisciplinary Sports Medicine and Sports Physiotherapy Centre in Sydney in 1983.

The first of its kind in Australia, the North Sydney Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy Centre (with Drs Merve Cross, Ken Crichton and Stuart Watson), was quickly followed in 1984 with the opening of the Narrabeen Sports Medicine Centre Physiotherapy at the NSW Academy of Sport, Narrabeen.

In 1992, Greg & Ian began to concentrate on Sports Physiotherapy at the Narrabeen Sports Medicine Centre and Sports Physiotherapy for International Rugby teams. Sadly, Ian died in 1997 and ever since Greg has been striving to maintain his high Physiotherapy standards and excellence on the field. This has included the establishment of the Ian Collier Scholarship for Research into Physiotherapy, in which the Knee Joint continues to be a proud supporter of.

After completing a physiotherapy career in UK, Kurt Lisle began working with Greg at the Narrabeen Sports Medicine Centre in Sydney and continued there for 6 years. In 2009, Kurt decided move to the Sunshine Coast to join Greg as his Principal Partner and found The Knee Joint Sports Physiotherapy. Kurt is currently one of the Sport Physiotherapists for the Mens Qantas Socceroos Football Team.

To the great benefit of the Sunshine Coast’s athletes, Greg and Kurt’s dream of bringing a small piece of the Narrabeen Sports Medicine Centre Physiotherapy to the Sunshine Coast has now been realised.
